Triple Birthday Party

Sharing is caring!

2020.

The strangest year for most, if not all, of us.

My daughter and my two nieces have very close birthdays, so every couple of years, my sister and I have our daughters’ birthday parties together. Since this is the summer of face masks and social-distancing, we decided to have a combined party again this year, but this time we had no guests.

Yep. A friend-free party for a 10, 7, and 5 year old. The only child at the party who wasn’t celebrating a birthday was my son (his birthday is in September), and surprisingly, the party wasn’t as lame as it sounds.

The only decoration I knew I wanted was a balloon “swoop” on one of the walls. Actually, I originally wanted to try a balloon mosaic (I saw them on the most recent season of Making It, and I’ve been obsessed with them since), but since I haven’t tried anything like that ever, I thought I’d start with something a little easier.

For the cakes, we decided to have all three of them decorated different. The girls have back-to-back-to-back birthdays, but their personalities couldn’t be more different.

The Adopt-A-Pet section was my 10-year old niece’s idea; they got to pick out a stuffed animal, name it, make a personalized collar for it, fill out the adoption certificate. The kids thought it was so fun! Well, to be honest, just the girls thought it was fun. My son picked out the T-Rex immediately, and didn’t have any interest in doing any of the rest of it.

The girls had a fantastic time! Thankfully, we found a way to make the party feel somewhat normal for the girls.
