I’ll be honest, I am not a very organized person. Anyone who knows me, is probably laughing out loud right now at that ridiculous understatement. I love having things organized, but keeping things that way is where my struggle is. I try, but even for a small family of four, it’s hard for me to keep up with everything. Because of this, I am all for any organization tips or tricks that make my life a little easier.
This idea is not my own, but I love it so much that I think everyone should know about it!! I got this nifty little trick from a friend of mine whose husband is super into fishing, so they always have an abundance of tackle boxes at their house. She and I have daughters who are around the same age and who are both very much into LOL Surprise Dolls. If you’re a parent of young girls, you probably already know what these are. They’re basically 3 inch dolls that come with various teeny tiny accessories and they’re impossible to keep up with. My daughter has lost accessories numerous times as she was opening the package. These things are tiny.
So one day my friend did a whole Facebook post about how easy it is to store LOL Surprise Dolls in tackle boxes. My mind was blown.
LOOK AT THAT!!! It’s like the box was made for these dolls. It’s perfect!
I immediately thought, what other toys can I put in tackle boxes?
I’ll go through a few of my favorites, but I’m sure there are so many more options.
Cars! No more near death experiences from stepping on hot wheels that “accidentally rolled of the shelf.”
There are so many tiny toys on the market these days, that the organizing possibilities are endless: Shopkins, mini Hatchimals, Num Noms. (Seriously who comes up with these names?) These could also be used for Barbie or American Girl Doll accessories; I could even organize all the crayons in my house by color (I haven’t done that one, but my point is that I could if I wanted to).
The possibilities don’t stop with toys. Really, any small things that need to be both organized and easily visible. I’ve organized all our batteries in a tackle box.
I recently used one for a (simplified) first aid kit. Any house with small children goes through a lot of Band-Aids.
By now, you get the point. I really like organizing with these. All of the tackle boxes I’ve shown here are available at places like Walmart, Target, Amazon, or Harbor Freight for $3-$6 each, so they’re incredibly affordable.
I will also add that if you want organize a lot of really tiny items, maybe you have a little LEGO set you don’t want to step on anymore, or you work with a lot of tools and you need to organize your nuts and bolts, you’ll want to get a tackle box with dividers that don’t move as easily.
I hope this helps! Happy organizing!
