In case it wasn’t obvious by the title, my daughter picked her birthday party theme this year. She has been talking about this party for months, and she was so proud of herself for coming up with, what she refers to as, “The most awesome idea ever!” When you have two favorite things, why choose? She was so unbelievably happy with how it turned out, which made everyone else happy too.
So here it is, the Mermaid Unicorn Party.
Birthday Party Outfit
Every birthday girl needs a birthday outfit, and this one fit my daughter’s personality (and the theme) perfectly! I had to “make” this outfit by buying all of the pieces separately:
- Unicorn headband from Amazon
- Shirt- I bought a plain white tank top from Walmart and I used the Cricut Design Space to make the design and I cut it out with my machine. I ordered the rainbow vinyl here.
- Rainbow Mermaid scale shorts, also from Amazon
Decorations
Decorating for this party was a little bit of a challenge, since no one sells mermaid unicorn decorations (or if they do, I couldn’t find them). Luckily, my incredibly talented sister (once again) made Savana’s birthday sign, and it was PERFECT!
So cute!
She even drew a mermaid-unicorn to sit on the cupcake stand! Or would it be a considered unicorn-mermaid? Either way, look at how cute this is!
Everything else I ordered was either mermaid or unicorn theme, and I just tried to find colors that would compliment each other.
I did a run-through with the decorations the day before the party. We live in a small city, so there aren’t a lot of birthday party venues. My daughter wanted to have her party at a local gymnastics gym, the problem is that they only allow 15 minutes before the party to set up decorations. I wanted to have an idea of how to set everything up before we got there.
The actual table at the party wasn’t quite the same size, but the lighting in the gym was terrible so I’m glad I got a few pictures of this table.
Cupcakes
At my daughter’s request, my mom made pink cupcakes with purple icing and purple cupcakes with pink icing for the party. The girl knows what she likes! I bought the cupcake wrappers and toppers in mermaid and unicorn themes from Amazon.
A picture of the actual cupcake setup at the party. See? Horrible lighting at the party.
Cookies
Mermaid and unicorn cookies from Fawnwood Bakery in BA. If you’re local, you should check them out. Soooo good!
Party Favors
Savana was very excited about the party favors– Mermaid Unicorn Gift Bags!!
I let her pick out everything that went inside of them:
Gift bags and mermaid tail keychains
The mermaid tail keychains were the favorite! The unicorn headbands were a close second though.
Overall, it was a great party! So, if you’re like me, and you have a kid who’s obsessed with these two mythical creatures, hopefully this was able to give you a few ideas for your own party!
